METADATA | Museo de Arte Costarricense | November 2018

This exhibition includes a selection of works, gestures and experiments that start from a review of the artist's creation process from his logic of selection and production of images. The base material works for this exhibition in a similar way to the "raw" material that the artist collects to generate his works. This large amount of information, after analysis and review, is configured as a large “metadata".

Metadata is understood as "data that describes other data", they help us locate information, a kind of search system. It allows the study of the macro and the micro, but it also admit a series of combinations and forms of organization. The temporary exhibition gallery of the MAC then becomes a conditioning criterion, the capacities of the space and the curatorial variants are used in this exhibition to generate not only an exhibition script, but also different possibilities.

Based on the study of the artist's different series, both in painting, assembly and drawing, and in the way of generating associations between the captured, accumulated and edited images, Metadata is presented as an essay that takes into account for its conformation the logic that it is behind Goizueta's work methodology. The breaking points and the thematic and conceptual continuities in his work intersect with space and scale games. The reproduction of the reproduction allows here the creation of new realities, invites us to the action of looking out, searching and looking again.

Maria José Chabarria , Curator in chief , Museum of Costarrican Art.
